Best Chocolate Collections for the Holidays

It’s not always easy to figure out what type of gift to get for an acquaintance, coworker, boss or distant relative. Sometimes it’s even worse trying to figure out what to get for people you want to get gifts for. To help you with that we’ve perused some sites looking for holiday collections that may help you complete your holiday shopping and help you enjoy Christmas just a little bit more.

The Art of Appreciation specializes in gourmet gift baskets with prices that range from $10 to $150. Some of the goodies available are coffee, tea, nuts, candy, chocolate and other gourmet foods, such as smoked salmon. Some of the designs are folksy, while others have a bit of a New Year’s flair to them.

Astor Chocolate has some reasonable deals for some imaginative gifts. For $9 you can get a Season’s Greetings milk chocolate Christmas card, or hot chocolate shavings or chocolate bark. You can also find some stocking stuffers for less than $3, and nice gift towers for $30-$50.

Chokola’j out of Moriches, New York offers organic fair trade artisan chocolates in interesting flavors. Their Pepita is toasted coriander & lime zest in milk chocolate topped with a pumpkin seed, while their goat milk caramel truffle is dark chocolate with a mission fig. So, they make with some interesting flavor combinations. Their gift collections start at $20 and go on up from there, however you can get what appear to be lovely lemon mascarpone brownies for around $15.

The Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate Company in St. Louis, Missouri has a variety of seasonal gifts and can even accommodate those who need sugar free candy or want all natural chocolates. The Christmas cookie collection is a box of chocolate covered Oreo cookies decorated with holly, gingerbread men and Santas. They also have chocolate covered Christmas tree pretzels and peppermint bark along with traditional truffle assortments. Prices vary from $10 on up, but many seem to hover around the $15-$20 range.

The Harvard Sweet Boutique offers more gift collections along the lines of home made cookies of various flavors if that’s more your style. Their cookies range from the traditional chocolate chip recipe to fudge, brownies, peppermint bark and even apricot-raisin rugelach. Prices are a little high for what you get – 8 cookies for $16-18 seems a little pricey, but they are nice assortments and already packaged and ready to give, making your holiday that much easier.

Hersheys brought chocolate to the masses and this year is also helping the masses with their gift giving options. While you can go to the Hershey’s store and pick up chocolate lip gloss for less than $5 or a 2 ½ pound Hershey’s Kiss filled with Hershey’s Kisses for less than $30, you can also go to Wrapped Hershey’s and purchase Hershey’s chocolate custom wrapped in your company logo or personalized with a family photo for anywhere from $5 to $100.

Hotel Chocolat has a number of imaginative gifts for the season for those not too worried about cost. For $55 you can get a gold foil, truffle-filled advent calendar or for $40 you can pick up a Christmas good bag filled with truffles, a chocolate Santa, a chocolate penguin and snowman on a chocolate slab. For $75 you can even get a Rather Large Cracker (yes, that’s what it’s called).

Lake Champlain Chocolate in Vermont offers a nice holiday selection of all natural chocolates. Their Holiday Chocolates come in Christmas and Hanukah gift boxes, as well as non-holiday packaging. They seem to specialize in truffle assortments that begin at $15, however there are some stocking stuffers, chocolate snowmen and Santas, as well as Hanukah stars that you can purchase for $5-$10.

Oliver Kita specializes in sustainable organic chocolate packaged in recycled and recyclable materials. This is almost guilt free gift giving as you can choose from an organic vegan chocolate Buddha statue for about $20 or a Virgin Mary chocolate statue with candied rose petals, both for about $20. Or simply choose one of the Christmas or Hanukah gift truffle sets for $35-$40.

The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has everything from a Sugar Free Delights gift basket to chocolate colored teddy bear, with truffle assortments and other candies in holiday, Christmas and Hanukah packaging. While you can get a very small truffle assortment (of four) for $4.95, the three pound Sugar Free Delights Gift Basket will set you back $49.95.

Last but not least is Vosges, offering a limited holiday gift selection with truffle gift boxes ranging between $43 and $99. However, they also still have their other truffle collections, such as the Aztec, the Casati and the Champagne truffle collections. In addition, this year they have pared with a designer who created their first limited edition Christmas tree ornament, a hand making the peace sign in a circle and tied with a purple ribbon.

As with any chocolate ordered online to be shipped, be sure to allow for shipping costs, especially if you opt for faster ship times because of the holiday or freshness concerns.
