Summer Sweet Beauty Trends

Summer Sweet Beauty Trends

Ladies: the summer has arrived, which means, basically, that it's finally the season for breaking out the exotically flavored lip glosses and lipsticks. Oooh, the season never tasted so good!

Just about every lip gloss manufacturer has (finally!) caught onto the chocolate trend and has created an assortment of glosses to wow your taste buds. So whether you’re a frequent wearer of lip balm, botanical lip liner or high gloss lip stick, there’s something available in the cosmetics section for you.

Origins, which manufactures make-up in trendy colors and styles, introduces the sensational chocolate truffle mood boosting lip balm: Origins - Cocoa Therapy Mood Boosting Lip Balm - 04 Chocolate Truffle - 7g/0.24oz. One lick of those bodacious flavored lips and anyone’s mood will surely be boosted!

Helena Rubinstein calls her new chocolaty lip gloss "full kiss cream," which makes sense, considering that most people like to share their chocolate. Now, it will be especially easy to share, without giving any away! Look for the No. 21 "Hot Chocolate" shade to warm you up, no matter how cool the air conditioning gets this summer. Helena Rubinstein - Full Kiss Cream Gloss - No. 21 Hot Chocolate - 9.5g/0.33oz

Chocolate All Over Your Face

Chocolate has always been used to describe colors as well, and this season is no different. Whether you’re in the market for a dark chocolate eyeliner or for a simple milk chocolaty lip color, there is more than one product available on the market to soothe your cravings. Hey – with so much to choose from, there’s no reason not to have chocolate all over your face this summer!

Givenchy leads the competition with the matmate powder foundation in chocolate. This foundation is especially helpful in guarding against harmful UV rays and comes with an SPF of 20! So whether you start the summer off with a dark complexion or develop your complexion from hours spent relaxing in the sun, your skin can be smooth and protected. Givenchy - MatMate Powder Foundation SPF 20 - # 11 Mat Chocolate - 7.5g/0.26oz

Yves Saint Laurent introduces the long lasting nail lacquer #6: intense chocolate. A word of warning: while the lacquer may not actually taste like chocolate, or be healthy to drink, no one will blame you for licking your fingers mid-day. After all, you’re already a trend-setter by sporting this (a la) mode tint, so lick with freedom! Yves Saint Laurent - Long Lasting Nail Lacquer #6 Intense Chocolate - 10ml/0.33oz

Head one isle over to the eye color section for a taste of Yves Saint Laurent’s #35 eye shadow: the ombre vibration duo in chocolate/silvered frost. If this color doesn’t suit your pallet, Saint Laurent offers a variety of chocolaty sister colors that may just sooth your senses. Try the brun/vert selection for a sultry blend of brown and green. Yves Saint Laurent - Ombre Vibration Duo - #35 Chocolate/Silvered Frost - 3.5g/0.12oz

Don't hesitate to try the color surge bare brilliance chocolate ice lipstick from Clinique (Clinique - Colour Surge Bare Brilliance Lipstick - #03 Chocolate Ice 6 - 4g/0.14oz), or the chocolate bronze one if you're heading to a fancy dinner (Clinique - Long Last Lipstick - No. 93 Chocolate Bronze ( Soft Shine ) - 4g/0.14oz). I don't know about you, but I'm unable to resist this temptation.

A Word of Caution

Remember: what the label says, these chocolaty products are not actually made using real edible cocoa. Should you find yourself in the precarious position of wishing to taste your new summer make-up, it is recommended that you do so only when there is a paramedic standing by to assist you should you have any digestion or blood poisoning products. Make-up is to be admired, not imbibed…even if it does have everything to do with your favorite food group.
