The Wonder Supplement

The Wonder Supplement

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it calcium in chocolate’s clothing? Or is it chocolate enhanced with a lot of calcium? When I tasted Adora the first time, I thought it was a weird tasting chocolate, but after more research I realized that it was, in fact, a dietary supplement for those of us who cannot stand to ingest dairy or other healthy vegetables containing vitamins and like our sweets. Since chocolate has been proven to bring a lot of health benefits and it tastes better than vitamins, and calcium is an important part of our daily diet, this explosive combination aims to get you to be healthy and to feel good doing so.

Calcium has been, at least in the recent decades, a weak spot in women’s diet. Approximately two thirds of women fail to consume the necessary daily amount of calcium, according to a recent survey, and this fact has more serious effects in their later years. The hectic modern lifestyle, a constant diet, the addiction to caffeine and an intolerance and/or dislike of dairy are some of the causes for this situations. The RDA says that people between ages 20-50 should have a 1000 mg intake, while children and teenagers, whose bones are still developing, and people over 50, whose bone density starts decreasing, should have an intake of about 1200-1500 mg. However, these are the suggested quantities and many do not seem to be able to reach that peak, with the majority of people managing a mere 700+ mg a day.

Why is this calcium so hard to take when it has so many benefits? One would imagine that people would try harder when it came to their health. After all, a finding from University of Massachusetts suggests that by consuming the normal daily quantity of calcium, women can reduce PMS with about 35% reports "The New Scientist." Also the women with the highest intake of vitamin D, a steroid hormone that is added to dairy products in order to help the body absorb the calcium, were less likely to suffer from the PMS symptoms. Another survey discovered that calcium supplements and vitamin D could reduce the chances of falling in older women. Normal or high intakes of calcium may also prevent the formation of kidney stones in younger women, showed a study published in the April 26, 2004 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine. That’s good news! Calcium ingested in tandem with the big D helps prevent lots of annoying ailments, such as osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is the price you pay after a certain age, if you didn’t drink your milk and eat your broccoli at the right time. It consists of higher loss of bone density (higher than what you would normally lose when senectitude comes along) and fragility of bones, which leads to lots of hip fractures.

Chocolate as well presents a lot of advantages: it contains anti-oxidants, iron, vitamin E and it elevates the mood. It has not been clearly proven that it causes weight gain on its own or that it causes acne. No one has problems eating chocolate (except for the ones who diet and don’t eat dairy either), so it’s the perfect cover for a calcium dose!
People have a lot of problems taking vitamins supplements in general because they are bulky and leave a chalky taste in your mouth. This problem should be solved with Adora milk and dark chocolate, as it only tastes mildly mineral. Each piece contains 500 mg of calcium and has only 30 calories, so it shouldn’t be an issue for the hardcore dieters. Two chocolates a day will fulfill the daily requirement and you will never forget (intentionally, I know!) to take your calcium. You’ll actually look forward to getting to that part! www.adoracalcium.com/
